I have been using the Nokia N78 here in Europe. I like this device very much because it is thin, has a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and a very good map application (Nokia Maps). I have been using Nokia maps in Berlin and Amsterdam. What’s cool is that the GPS function finds your location on the map. You can see museums, hotels, restaurants, shops and other notable places around you, including metro stops. The only disappointment is that you have to pay to download the map of Amsterdam, Berlin and other cities. Why can’t Nokia just use Google maps which already has a lot of the restaurants and cafes listed? It’s free of charge. The other significant downside to using Nokia maps when traveling is that mobile data roaming rates are excessive.
So although I like the phone (its thinness and elegance), I am discouraged from using its advanced features, specifically Nokia Maps, by mobile data roaming rates and having to pay for city maps.
