Nokia N78 is here and the Maps application is great Tools of the global nomad: find Wi-Fi, avoid roaming charges, stay connected

When I travel, my laptop bag is usually bursting at the seams with all kinds of gadgets, power cords, peripherals and so on. I’d like to lighten the load but how? Well, why take a camera AND a mobile phone when you have a phone that takes great photos? That’s the Nokia N82, a stylish black phone that comes with a 5 megapixel camera and Xenon flash (which provides more light so photos taken in low-light situations look much better), Wi-Fi, GPS and A-GPS, and Nokia maps. Another advantage of the N82 over the other phones such as the N80: it’s thin so you can put it easily in a tiny handbag or the back pocket of your jeans.

Nokia Maps is the best application I’ve seen so far on Nokia phones. I used it in Berlin and Amsterdam. Note: I live in Amsterdam so I downloaded the map to check on the accuracy of the locations and indeed, it’s excellent.
