Linked In has serious bugs and usability issues

Posted by: Esme Vos In: Consumer Internet| social networks

I’ve been using Linked In over the past few days rather intensively: creating a Muniwireless / Muni WiMAX group, inviting people, posting questions and answers in the Q&A section, getting in touch with former colleagues, etc. Here are the most serious problems I’ve encountered on Linked In:

  • the search function does not work all the time: I frequently get “search unavailable” when I try searching on someone’s name
  • the invitation functionality in Groups is terrible: I can’t seem to find a way to invite my existing Linked In contacts to the groups I have just created. If you click on the “Invite” button (in yellow), it opens your email program. This is NOT what I expect to happen. Very counterintuitive.

They need to get someone who knows more about usability to fix other cumbersome ways of doing things on the site, especially in the Groups.
