GeoSkipper is a plug and play tool that allows allows anyone to easily display different web content to site visitors based on the visitor’s geographic location. This allows website owners such as restaurants (see below) to offer specials to website visitors based on location.

The ability to target prospective customers based on location is a powerful tool for restaurants, cafes, and retailers. It’s easy to set up GeoSkipper on your site: you only have to insert a piece of code in your website HTML page. The private beta launched on 24 February 2011. GeoSkipper was founded by Camilo Acosta and Frank Langston, who are based in Washington, DC. Below is the Q&A with Camilo Acosta.

Q: What inspired you to launch your product/service?
A: During our marketing and sales efforts for RootOrange.com, we ran across a lot of people who said they loved our technology but didn’t want our geo-targeted domain. They wanted to geo-target their own website.

Q: Where do you see your product/service within a year?
A: The go-to provider for easy management of location-aware user experiences on websites.

Q: Are you self-funded or do you have angel investors?
A: We raised a seed around in August of 2009 composed of friends and family, and we received an investment from Stephenson Ventures.
